Everyone is talking of going green. Do we really care?
The recent Go Green Campaign by NDTV was watched by every one, where celebrities endorsed of being the Green Icon. Has it had really helped! Yes Mumbai's beaches were cleaned, but the real campaign should be about not polluting rather then cleaning. When it comes to cleaning, everyone of the aware lot would come and do something the first day. What happens next? Is it just a matter of social positioning by celebrities and other people in their own society or does it really matter. If it does start stop polluting.
One such cleanliness drive was initiated several years back at SURSAGAR in Bikaner. It ended tough just before elections and SURSAGAR was inaugurated with much hype by the then CM, Vasundhara Raje. The very next day after all this fanfare, the entry of the general public was banned and even after months passing by you cannot go down. Why was it cleaned then?
Today while coming back from college, I happened to pass by an polluting Auto Rickshaw at the Main Ambedkar Circle, where Traffic Police constables are always posted. If it really matters why action is not taken against such people? I bet you would find every third auto with the same condition.
Lets us then save Bikaner. A Go Green Campaign where few polluting Auto Rickshaws will be banned the first day, some social worker will get all the publicity and may be get a ticket from some party in the coming or next general elections.
Hey Go Green!
Don't just Go for the SCREEN
